On 28th December, the National Philosophy and Social Science Work Office announced the list of major projects of the National Social Science Foundation for the year of 2023, and the project ‘Research on the Positioning of Competition Policy and Antitrust Problems in the Era of Digital Economy’ declared by Prof. Xu Guangyao of Guangxi University was awarded the project, which achieved a new breakthrough of the School of Law in the national-level major projects.

The project mainly focuses on ‘the positioning of competition policy in the era of digital economy’ and ‘the antitrust problems in the field of digital economy and its adjustment methods’, providing a theoretical and analytical framework of antitrust law for the study of competition policy positioning and antitrust problems in the era of digital economy. It provides a theoretical analysis framework of antitrust jurisprudence for the study of the major issues of competition policy positioning and antitrust problems in the era of digital economy, in order to clarify the fundamental status of competition policy in the era of digital economy, to solve the general monopoly problems brought about by the digital economy, to qualify the new types of monopoly behaviours in the field of digital economy and to clarify the adjustment methods, and to promote academic innovation in this field.

The major projects of the National Social Science Foundation (NSF) are the highest level, the most powerful and authoritative project categories in the current funding system of the NSF projects, which is an important indicator of the scientific research strength of institutions of higher education in the field of humanities and social sciences. This year, Guangxi University for the first time in the same year won two major projects of the Social Science Fund, the other by the College of Business Administration.

In recent years, the School of Law of Guangxi University has increased the cultivation of scientific research projects and the guidance of project declaration by vigorously introducing high-level talents, continuously improving the incentive mechanism for scientific research, and digging into the potential to promote breakthroughs in scientific research performance.2023, the School of Law has successively produced high-level papers in China Social Sciences, major projects of the National Social Science Foundation and other landmark achievements, and the number of papers published in C journals or above has increased by 50 per cent compared with that of last year; the scientific research performance of the teachers of the School has increased by 50 per cent compared with that of last year. In 2023, the School of Law has successively produced such landmark achievements as high-level papers in China Social Sciences and major projects of the National Social Science Foundation, and the number of papers published in C journals or above has increased by 50% compared with last year.
